The recent severe storms have caused disruption to many homes across the Yorkshire region with a chimney suffering huge damage during a lightning strike.
After the storms had calmed down, the owner noticed the problem and called DPR in the hope of getting something fixed quickly. Neil Taylor, DPR surveyor went out to the home and proposed a plan to rebuild this shared chimneystack and renew roof sections that were damaged also.
After Neil had carried out his inspection, he said "The masonry and mortar appear to have been weak and left to deteriorate leaving an unstable structure. It’s very important to have chimneys inspected regularly and DPR are happy to carry out all manner of inspections for homeowners to ensure events like this do not happen as frequently. This damage could very easily have turned into a personal injury if it had gone through the house which was very possible"
