Yorkshire roofing company, DPR, welcomes the new figures released by the NHBC, which reveal that numbers of new homes registered in the UK in February are up by 25% over those registered in February the previous year. This is good news for people looking to buy a new home this year, and good news for those in the construction and related industries.

The NHBC figures show that 11,734 new homes were registered in the UK in February this year, compared with 9,390 in February last year. February 2014 showed a particularly low result in house registration numbers, and premier Yorkshire roofers DPR are pleased to see this encouraging increase. NHBC is the leading warranty and insurance provider for new homes and their registration figures are a reliable indicator that the UK home building industry is enjoying a period of sustained growth on last year’s figures. Over the rolling quarter, December 2014 – February 2015, 36,505 new homes were registered in the UK, compared with 29,681 for the same period in 2014. This is an encouraging rise of 23%. The greatest increase is in the private sector, which showed a massive increase of 32%, while the public sector, in contrast, managed an increase of only 1%.

NHBC Chief Executive Mike Quinton warns against complacency, though; “We have been clear that we are building way below the level of homes that our country so desperately needs.” he says, concluding that “ it is important that we keep up this momentum.”

Yorkshire roofing services company DPR, with 20 years’ experience in roof repairs throughout the Yorkshire area, agrees that these new homes are good news for the UK.
