DPR Roofing has recently learnt that there is an additional £40 million Church repair fund which was announced in the 2015 Budget by the Chancellor of the Exchequer.

The £40 million is additional to the £15 million fund which we told you about last year and also supports the £20 million which has been made available for the First World War Centenary Cathedral Repair Fund.

In total, over 1,900 places of worship registered during the 8 week period and this new fund is an indication of the levels the government will go to provide support in these areas. According to the The National Heritage Memorial Fund, who are the fund responsible for ensuring the money is allocated to those who need it the most, has committed to giving out over £30 million this financial year. The remaining budget will be allocated in a second round of funding which is taking place later this year.

The Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Revd and Rt Hon Justin Welby, tweeted in response to the announcement saying: "Trebling of money for church repairs will create local skilled jobs, improve community facilities and protect heritage, most welcome."

DPR are delighted that areas of worship are getting the funding to get essential repair work completed as soon as possible. As leading commercial roofers in the Yorkshire region, we have been involved in some projects involving places of worship over the past 25 years.
