Majestyk nightclub in Leeds fell foul to a huge fire last week which left the place fully gutted inside and 75 fire fighters working overnight to put out the blaze.
Although the full extent of the damage is not known, a lot of the pictures appear to show major damage to the roof which has collapsed inside the building. Fortunately no-one was in the venue at the time as it was already having major redevelopment and had not been open to the public for a number of years.
According to reports and the pictures, fire was bellowing out of the top of the building and could be seen for miles, with a huge amber glow over the Leeds City skyline. One reported said that he saw flames of up to 50ft leave the building and as the roof continued to collapse the flames just got bigger and bigger.
The fire fighter on duty that night told BBC news that the fire had removed the roof but the building was safe. He said:
A 32-year-old man has been arrested but police are unsure if it was in fact a suspicious event.
More information about this event will be available on local news sources in the coming days.
