After taking on large amounts of rainwater, the elevated brickwork of home in Chapel Allerton, Leeds was in desperate need of repair. DPR Roofing Leeds was only too happy to help.

Following a requested inspection of the roof we found evidence of spalled brickwork. This is when the expansion of freezing water breaks off the top surface of a brick, and leaves the inner surface exposed to the elements. When this happens a number of times the brick will eventually crumble completely.

The team set about cutting out all of the existing pointing work to a depth of 10mm and removed the damaged spalled brickwork; taking out 10 bricks in total.

The bricks were replaced with brand new ones and repointed along with other damaged areas to prevent the rain from entering the brickwork.

To further protect the family home from the elements, we then set about damp proofing the front porch elevation.

We did this by removing the damp affected plaster on the walls of the porch and then drilled and injected a new chemical DPC injection course.

The walls were then replastered using BS1200 Portland cement mix with an added chemical waterproofing agent and skimmed for a refined finish.
