DPR Roofing were called out to a property in Chapel Allerton recently when the occupants became concerned at the state of repair of the existing flat roof to the side extension of their property.
DPR’s roofers attended at the property and completed a thorough survey of the roof. This survey uncovered extensive damage to the existing roof cover and lead flashings. A full replacement of the roof was recommended.
The project involved stripping off all of the existing felt covering and refelting in a high performance/fibre glass backed polyester base felt, green mineral edgings and upstands. The upstands were chased in to the wall and pointed to ensure a watertight seal. All felt was laid to a hot bitumen and a solar reflective compound was applied to completed base felt. This is essential in preventing heat causing damage to the felt roof.
The roofers also stripped out all current upstands and flashings to the chimney area and replaced with new quality polyester torch on felt upstands and new code four lead flashings. The flashings were plugged with traditional lead plugs and pointed in a specialist leadmate waterproof compound.
